Seems to me, that the older I get, my mind plays tricks on me. For instance, I can leave the room to go and get something and then forget what I went to get. Then, when I return to where I left from, to not get the thing, whatever it was that I forgot to get, I remember what it was that I forgot to get. And so I have to turn around and go back and get the thing that I went to go get, that I forgot to get on the first trip that I left to go get, that thing, in the first place. Understand? You say yes? Well, I’m glad that somebody does.

It seems to me that the more I learn, the less I know. It seems to me that when I was younger, I had more mind capacity, or power. However, it seems to me  could not be right because I know that I did not know then, what I know now. So I could not have had more mind capacity then, than I do now. Or could I?

Let me illustrate what I’m talking about. It seems to me that when I was younger, I could name all the latest songs. I could remember the words to the songs, the artists who sang the songs, as well as when they recorded a particular song. Now, it seems to me that I’d be fortunate to just be able to hum along, as I cannot for the life of me, remember the words to some of the songs that I grew up listening to, and even singing, word for word. Neither can I, most of the time, remember the artist (group) singing them. That bothers me at times. Would it not bother you too? It seems to me that it just might. That is, if you were me.

Now just for the sake of carrying this further, if I recollect correctly, that when I was younger, it seems to me that I was placed in what was called, during that time (the seventies), “high academic” classes. At the middle school level (seventh grade), I was taking college level classes, such as Calculus, Trigonometry, and Linguistics. When I got to college, I struggled with Algebra. Wow, I just could not get my mind to help me comprehend the “reunion of broken parts.” Matter of fact, it was my failure to comprehend and perform in that subject area that kept me from graduating with honors. It seems to me, that in retrospection, my mind has degenerated instead of gained power.

One last observation. When I was younger, I worked for a major construction company. I designed a system  to retrieve parts faster, enabling this particular company to save money on down time.Their mechanics did not have to wait around while the clerk searched, often to no avail, for parts as small as a screw or washer. They were put in an organized system, so that they could be found with the stroke of a key, whether they were in the warehouse or on the yard. I did the same thing for an auto parts dealer.

When I was younger…. What was I saying? Oh yeah, “IT SEEMS TO ME.”
